Short history of the collection

I began collecting pocket calendars in 1982. Like every child I wanted to collect something. I chose to collect stamps. Actually I did not chose. My cousin had a beautiful album for stamps and I wanted to have the same. My mother had thought of alternatives, though. She would have to finance the whole venture. She rightly considered stamps to be a too expensive hobby for an eight-year old child, who might be bored too soon by this.

My mother suggested pocket calendars. All my class mates collected pocket calendars then. There was a vivid exchange at school every day. My mother took two calendars from her wallet and I was convinced. She in turn became a very passionate calendars collector.

Today - twenty years later - I still collect pocket calendars. My collection counts more than thirty thousand calendars, exchange goes far beyond the corridors of my school, but my mother is still actively involved.

I sincerely hope that pocket calendars will be popular for many years to come as a tool for marketing and propaganda, and as a collectors item.
